Breeding objective

LGD-CH selects dogs which fulfil certain behavioural criteria. It is assumed that livestock guarding dogs (LGD) are able to bond with the herd entrusted to them. Once this bond has been established, LGD are supposed to fend off strangers from the herd, as they perceive the herd as their own resource (so-called resource-oriented competitive behaviour). LGDs can also integrate and act within the pack. For LGDs to physically fulfil their operational purpose, they must be emotionally stable and healthy and have a functional physique as well as a good coat condition.
