Education for breeders

The association LGD-CH conducts an internal education programme for prospective breeders of livestock guarding dogs (LGDs). The aim of the education programme is to provide the breeders with the most profound knowledge possible, so that they are able to breed and educate fully operational and socially compatible LGDs for the national programme, taking into account their farm structures. The programme has been developed by experienced breeders and the provisions are laid down in the regulations on education and examination of breeders.

Participation in the education programme is open to members of LGD-CH and is obligatory for all who wish to educate and breed within the association. The programme takes at least two years and consists of a theoretical and a practical part. At least nine days take place outside the participants’ own farms.
